Oggi Macugnaga è soprattutto una meta turistica che, grazie alla funivia del Monte Moro e alla seggiovia del Belvedere, consente di ammirare panorami mozzafiato.

Macugnaga is the best town of Valle Anzasca, in Verbania Province, in the northern part of Piedmont Region. Made up of various hamlets in a green valley at the feet of the extraordinary South face of Mount Rosa, Macugnaga is of Walser origin.

The Walsers, an ancient population of Swiss shepherds who spread out in many Alpin areas during the Middle Age, developed the elegant rural architectural style reflected in the Macugnaga houses. Today, Macugnaga is mainly a tourist destination that, thanks to the cableways of Monte Moro and Belvedere, allows to enjoy breathtaking mountain views.
